My Airwatch experience

I was assigned the task of evaluating 3 MDM solutions during our pilot of Traveler. After researching the options, the 3 were: MaaS360, Airwatch, and Mobile Iron. I will comment on my experience.

MaaS360 - I requested a trial and was setup quickly, perhaps within 48 hours. I was told how to use the product by them walking me through screens and explaining everything. Service was excellent, and their continued webinars relating to MDM in general have been extremely beneficial.

Airwatch - Our company signed an agreement, and had the trial setup with about 48 hours as well. The sales rep pointed me to the videos and it was pretty much (them) hands-off. I had to learn on my own. I didn't delve in too deep and felt the only feature they offered that MaaS360 did not have when I went through the trial, was the ability to lookup apps directly from the vendor (iOS/Android) app stores. I didn't get much out of Airwatch although our overseas counterpart has implemented this solution.

Mobile Iron - Suffice it to say they seem to want to target LARGE operations. We did not meet the minimum VMWare specs to setup the trial, and our AT&T rep tried to get the appliance available for use, but it fell through. We did not even get to demo this product. My personal thought is that they want to make it too hard to purchase their product, which is bad to grow a business.

We opted for MaaS360, and are currently awaiting signatures from both their legal team and ours. I agree that the "Here's the video to watch" approach didn't appeal to me with Airwatch. MaaS360 seemed to have better, hands-on support and this meant a lot to me.

This was my experience with these companies. While I'm sure all offer a great product, to a varied audience of users, I felt MaaS360 was a better product, for us, simply because of how diligent they were working with me to get us going.
